Epitalon research background

Epitalon was designed in the 1990s at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology (V. Khavinson and colleagues) as a synthetic analogue of epithalamin, a polypeptide preparation derived from the bovine pineal gland. Its short, acidic sequence makes it one of the simplest peptides in the longevity-research literature and a convenient reference compound for cell-culture work.

The published research on AEDG has concentrated on three areas: telomerase activity and telomere length in cultured human somatic cells (Khavinson et al., Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2003), circadian and neuroendocrine markers in aged animal models, and gene-expression changes in cell lines exposed to the peptide. Later work has examined its interaction with chromatin and with the expression of genes such as CD5, IL-2 and MMP-2 in cultured cells. These are laboratory findings in cells and animals; they have not been replicated in controlled human trials, and no conclusions about human effects should be drawn from them.

For researchers, the compound’s appeal is practical: it is inexpensive to synthesize, stable as a lyophilizate, easy to quantify by HPLC, and well characterized by mass spectrometry, which makes lot-to-lot comparison straightforward.

Handling and storage: Lyophilized powder in a sealed, nitrogen-flushed vial. Store at −20 °C for long-term storage or at 2–8 °C for short-term storage, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation.

Shipping & Returns

Shipping & Returns

Orders are processed within 1–2 business days and shipped USA-only with tracking. Lyophilized peptides are stable at ambient temperature in transit, so no cold chain is required.

Because of the nature of research materials we accept returns of unopened, unused products only, and we make it right on anything damaged or incorrect on arrival — full details in our Refund, Return & Cancellation Policy.
