Description
Selank 10mg is the synthetic heptapeptide Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro, formed from the endogenous tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg, a fragment of the immunoglobulin G heavy chain) extended with the same Pro-Gly-Pro tail used in Semax to resist enzymatic degradation. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder in a single sealed vial containing 10mg net peptide. Selank research background
Selank was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences alongside Semax, using the same strategy of stabilizing a short endogenous peptide with a Pro-Gly-Pro extension. Its parent, tuftsin, has been studied since the 1970s for its interaction with phagocytic cells, which is why much of the Selank literature sits at the intersection of neurochemistry and immunology.
Published laboratory studies in rodent and cell models have examined Selank’s effects on expression of genes involved in GABAergic signalling and on cytokine and interleukin gene expression, as well as its metabolic stability compared with tuftsin. These are animal and in-vitro findings and do not describe effects in humans.
Analytically, Selank is a hydrophilic, basic peptide with no oxidation-prone residues, which makes it comparatively stable as a lyophilizate; identity is readily confirmed by mass spectrometry at m/z ≈ 752.
Handling and storage: Lyophilized powder in a sealed, nitrogen-flushed vial. Store at −20 °C for long-term storage or at 2–8 °C for short-term storage, protected from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation.
